Move with them: You can find me practicing yoga at Ma, doing functional mobility and strength training at HQ, teaching functional flow Thursday nights at Third Space ESQ, and teaching yoga at Oxygen in Saanich on Sundays. I also teach chair yoga at Our Place and Ross Place.

Outside of the studio, I love walking my dog through the forests and along the beaches of Victoria. You’ll also find me movin’ and groovin’ anywhere there’s heavy bass! I’m slowly getting back to light jogging and playing squash at Uvic.

Tunes to move by: I love music with a steady beat, layered with instruments and vocals. Basically, if it makes me want to move, I’m in. You can have a peek here:  https://open.spotify.com/user/kat.suchy?si=b825f4b53e784b37

Words to move by: My self-love journey has taught me to look into the ocean more and the mirror less.”

I also love the idea that we practice hard things on our mat so we can be better prepared for the hard things that come up in everyday life- and I mean the hard things for the mind as much as the body.

A few years ago, I wrote a poem about what movement means to me. It has shifted a little over time, but the heart of it is still very much how I feel:

I Move

I run

I run not to become so small I am not seen.

I run to be seen

Not physically.

Mentally.

To see myself.

Calm. Strong. Able

I don’t move for anyone but me.

In return they can experience the real me.

I wake up and stretch.

Sit still and Breathe.

Not for the ones on my screen.

For the Love of me.

I listen to slow down

I push to strengthen my mind and trust my capability.

I am able, I am strong, I am calm

I move for no one else but me.

I move because:
I move to connect and play! With myself, with my community, and with the people I get to move alongside.
